The 64th Gamer

the-64th-gamer:

i feel like the past year has reshaped my opinion on art to be wholly about being free, copyleft, and open source no matter what.

if I want to release a game for money so I can live, there’s no reason to not also offer a free alternative for people to mod and pirate. If they wanna support me as a person and developer, the Steam release is there- otherwise the entire codebase is on GitHub before it even releases.

same thing with merchandise. if I ever sell plushies of my characters, the sewing patterns should be freely available. figures should have CAD files to 3D print, posters and such should have the raw files provided. absolutely 0 excuses.

all my games, characters, art will be public domain and un-trademarked forever.
